Drop Shot hook size

Featured Replies

What is your preferred hook size for drop shotting?

I use #2 but it almost seems to small, I am thinking of going up to a #1 or 1/0.

Let me know what you have found successful.

Thanks

I use #2 red octopus hooks for all my dropshotting.  The best thing about them is you always hook em in the roof of the mouth.  I have also used a thin wired worm hook but prefer the octopus style.

Thats another thing, I use Gamakatsu Split/Drop shot hooks.

Do you prefer octopus hooks or any other?

I use 1/0 and 2/0 Gammy Wide Gap Finesse, #2 and 1/0 Drop/Split Shot, Owner Mosquito and Down Shot hooks.  I adjust the hook for the sink rate, and cover.  Each bait is a little different.

I use Owner Mosquito hooks #2, #1, and 1/0 depending on the lure I'm using. I have used the Gammy #1 and #2 but prefer the Owner hooks. They are nasty sharp.
