Calling Panther

Recommended Posts

Well, made the trip still trying to find a spot to fish down here that isn't so darn big. First off , I tried to find a spot to camp, the closest thing I could find was in Utica about 45 miles away and an hour drive on back roads. Arrived at 5:30 with about 20 other boats on the water at 6:20 :( I tried some Yellow Magic and a buzzbait to start and not even a boil. Went to the far end away from the stumps, on the rocks and caught 3 shorts right in a row on a wacky rig and then nothing for an hour. Long story short, I caught another 7 bass the rest of the day in 90 degrees on a creature bait all in 12 to 15 ft of water with the biggest being 2 lbs. Not much to brag about. I got the boat stuck on stumps 5 or 6 times, but the ol' Stratos survived. Nice looking lake, I wish they would have taken a little time to make some kind of "path" to get anywhere. It was like this everywhere you went except the very far end of the lake

They have cleared up alot!! I havn't seen the reports from the St. Jude yet though that was at Sardis. I know someone who went down and won a tournament with 15lbs at enid in a club tournament but I don't know the complete details.

sorry i'm late but I just saw your post and have been fishing CP lake a bunch recently. it is the perfect summer lake being deep and absolutely slammed with cover. i didn't start catching fish there till i started exploring the creek channel. its as close as youre gonna get to a path. all i do is locate the channel, cast my favorite plastics onto the flats on either side of the channel near cover, and drag it off the ledge into the creek channel. rinse and repeat all the way up the channel. preferably starting on the shallow end of the lake and working your way towards the levy if you get there early morning. also a couple years ago they introduced about 5000 threadfin shad to the lake which is starting to show greatly. i have seen a lot more surface activity recently than i have in the past, and the fish i am catching seem healthier. I've actually caught fish casting flukes towards surface activity and working them near the surface. holler if you have any thing you want to ask me, there are BIG fish in that lake!
