choosing colors

Featured Replies

I have been talking to a couple of fisherman lately and they have been suggesting different colors based on "season" such as throw chartreuse baits mid summer and stay away from the baby bass after early summer, usually i choose the color of my baits off water clarity, cloud cover, contrast and which lake i am fishing but does "season" really matter and which family of colors work best at which seasons???

I base my colors on water clarity.

Yup, me too! You can always "think outside the box" and throw crazy colors that are not suppose to work in certain water colors. Just to show them something new ya know.

The ONLY time I throw a "seasonal" bait. ( I don't like that term) From Dec-June I will throw a red rat l trap or Xcalibur in Rayburn Red color. The bass here are keying in on crawfish that time of year and that seems to be a magic color. But most of the time I choose color by water clarity and cloud cover.
