Are you trying to set the hook at thew blow up?? From what I read on here from everyone who fishes topwater frogs they say you must wait to feel the weight of fish or give it a few seconds and then set the hook.

I have one two but no luck yet on mine. I have caught bass on my Spro but I too try it and first blow up. I get over excited every single time. I also still have a hard time walking the dog with any of my frogs. 1 minute I can walk the next I can't.

Here you go

By the way welcome to the site.

I have had two great days so far this season for topwater, and both days I threw a Koppers (the one in my pic!). It took me about three or four misses to get into the grove. Patience is the key. Do net set the hook on the blowup, wait to set the hook until you feel the fish on the line.

I have heard that some batches of Koppers have dull hooks, you might want to check yours out, make sure they are sharp.

Hey thanks for the advice guys. Appreciate it, my hooks seem sharp enough. I think i gotta give them more time to take it then and stop getting so excited. And by reading that other thread it looks like you really gotta set the hooks hard on theese. Endless i got one in that same color. You catch some nice large mouths on her yet? I also got the light green one. Pretty neat looking lures. $10 is a big price though but if i can hook up some bucket bass its all fine and dandy hahaha. Good luck guys, cant wait to get out this weekend, Saturday bass , Sunday Walleye/ Bass ooohh yeaaaaa

You might be thinking of Avalonjohn44 frog color. I have the brown/black Kopper frog. Still no luck just a couple of misses. The Spro that works for me is the Leopard.

I heard black is the color choice so that will be next color to try.

i love the koppers & my hook up ratio has been spot on with them. i don't necessarily wait to feel the fish but once they blow up on it i reel down & then set that mother home, SON!! lol

the koppers is my main hollow body go to froggy now winning out over the spro's which i was dedicated to. But the spro poppers are sweet and will remain a staple in my arsenal. also i like the walking ability of the koppers over the spro myself...

I personally fish nothing but Spro Bronzeyes.... I've used Snag Proof, Koppers, Scum Frog, etc. and the most durable, best walking, and best catching frogs I've used are the Spro brand. I am in no way affiliated with Spro other than purchasing their product, but they are the best on the market. The koppers don't cast as well, have limited color selection (Comparatively) and have poorer hook-up ratios, as well as being less durable and don't walk as well than the Spros..... That being said, make sure you are using a hgood stiff rod with braided line and setting the hook HARD.

I have the Black Spro and I've had fish hit it in open water as soon as it hits the water. My hookup ratio hasn't been that freat this year but I know its my fault on the hook set but that blow up is a rush.

I've had ups and downs w/ hookup ratio on frogs. Some days it seems like they're blowing up a foot away from it and other days they darn near swallow the whole frog instantly.
