I am looking at upgrading my electronics. Trying to decide btw a lowrance hds 7 and a lowrance hds 8. I am gonna get the insight and structure scan for sure. But I was wondering if there is a difference btw the 2 other than size? Is there more or less functions or what? any help i would appreciate

Other than the screen size difference, the 7 will show up to 3 viewing panes at once, while the 8 will show up to 4 panes. The 8 has quickkeys at the bottom for one-button access to most common menu items, while the 7 does not have quickkeys. The 8 has two SD card slots, the 7 just one. All other functions are essentially identical.
