Has Anyone Tried The New Optimus Reels?

Featured Replies

Just curious if anyone has tried one of the new Optimus casting reels. No one in my area sells them so I've never handled one. They look like nice reels.

I'm going to get a optimus xt or xlt, but can't figure out what is different about the 2 except color. I found some good prices on both and the xt would look better on my duckett rod, but I can get the xlt cheaper. The slower xt's are cheaper than the xlt, but I want a hs and the hs xt is $147 while the hs xlt is $132.

The only difference is the gold titanium deposition finish which costs more to manufacture, thus the price difference.

Good luck and post up pictures with big bucketmouths and your new reel!!!

I actually went ahead and ordered the xlt before seeing your post p1. Oh well. Like I posted earlier though, the hs xt was $147 and I got the xlt for $133 shipped. Matching colors on rods and reels isn't my top priority anyway.

p1, do you have any idea what the ipt is on the 7.3 to 1 and the 6.4 to 1 reels? I was just curious. I'm excited to get the reel!

You bet! XLT 30 1/2" and the XT 27"

Was able to get my new optimus xlt out once so far and I'm impressed. It casted great and was very smooth on the retrieve. I'll probably do a review in the rod/reel section after I'm able to get it out a few more times.

Well, had the reel out a couple more times and I'm more impressed each time I use it. It casts extremely well, feels smooth and sturdy. I'm still planning on doing a review in the r/r section in the future. The only thing in question is the durability and I won't be able to judge that till I use it for a period of time & land a good number of fish with it.

At this point I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Especially since Amazon has some good prices on them.
