Calcutta Te 200Gt Vs Calcutta 200Dc

Featured Replies

Can someone give me a comparison on these reels? I see the DC's selling used all the time in the 300 dollar range, a lot of times cheaper than a 200GT new. I hardly ever see a 200GT for sale. I'm wanting a striper combo for around here but also a combo I can take to Florida and fish with in the bay for reds or whatever else. I was thinking about getting a Loomis PBR844c and one of these 2 reels. Thanks

The DC is worth every penny. I'd bet on a 30% increase in casting distance when you get used to the reel, as well as far fewer backlashes in goofy situations. I don't remember the last time I even backlashed my DC. It's lighter than the TE, it looks better than the TE, and it feels better than the TE. If you can score one for that price, I'd hop all over it. I've got two DC, one Calais, one Calcutta. I'm always in the market for another.

Don't have a 200GT, but my 200DC is one of my favorite reels and is truly amazing. I will own more DC reels when I can afford it. I would be afraid of the effects of salt water on the DC. I use 400 stradics in salt/brackish water. Easier to clean and get the salt out. JMHO

They are both very fine reels and you would not go wrong with either one. In a nut shell it depends on how much you want to spend, the GT will be cheaper......

What they said..

I also love the DC but the down side is the low capacity. Other than that its an awesome reel. If you are going for inshore fishing I would got with the GTE for the capacity and also no worries of any electronic circuit getting exposed to too much saltwater. Although I use mine for saltwater. :D
