Lf Finesse Spin Reel Suggestion $200-$350

Featured Replies

Closer to $200 is better, will go as high as $350 if the jump is worth it. Gonna drop it on a finesse NRX.

Prefer Daiwa, shimano, or possibly pflueger, or similar.

Must have compact body. 8oz max

One of the nicest spinning reels at the $200 mark if you can find them (That will suit your requirements perfectly) is the Daiwa Certate. They can be found for $199 a lot of places. I know Bass Pro has them. (Point of contention: The JDM release and new USDM release is going to set you back $500 and they're built dang near the exact same.))

I have two now and have been VERY happy. The other reel that I'm googly eyed over is the CI4. The Certate in a 2000 size is right at 8oz and the CI4 is 7.2.

I have both a Revo Premier and CI4 on drop shot rods, and despite being $50 cheaper I give a small edge to the CI4. However, I really enjoy fishing with both of those reels and they perform flawlessly. I also use an Abu Soron STX quite often (retail $129) and have been very pleased with it as well.

I'm in the market for a new spinning reel myself, went to Dick's and the selection was dismal. Have a good idea of what I want, 4000 about 11 oz and and 20# drag. I already own stradic fi, soron 40 and penn conquer, each would fit the bill. I just want to go buy it without having to drive 40 miles to BPS, don't want to buy it online either.

Pflueger Supreme XT ($150) or Pflueger Patriarch ($200) in the 30 size, both are well under that 8 oz mark, are rock solid performers. The supreme XT weighs in at 7.2, the Patriarch at 6.3. I have a pair of Supremes and a Patriarch and love them.

gonna consider all these for sure.

But I have an emergency post. There's a daiwa z 2500cu, listed in a local classified for $240. It has a sticker on the box of $700. Anyone know of these? Can't seem to find too much info on it.

Is it a good buy? If so I should probably act quick b4 it's gone.

^nevermind, turns out it's a very old reel ....retail $700+, local ad had for $200 new.

looks like bpS stop selling the certate.

it's a toss up for me right now between the ci4 and the patriarch. Or maybe i should wait for the daiwa ballistic.

The problem with waiting is we think something always better is coming out. For me I'd be perfectly content with last years model at a better price. Do we not plan on owning a piece of equipment for a number of years working at it's peak?
