So I'm on my 3rd Tour To Iraq and The year prior to this last Deployment I got huge into Bass Fishing out in Kansas on Milford Lake and made several trips home that year To FL(Orlando) where i couldnt keep count of the amount of Bass I Caught. So As i'm getting close to the end of my Tour and will be returning home soon Im ready to get outfitted with all the latest and greatest Gear essentials.....However i'm trying to be patient and make a wise choice when it comes to the time frame of when I buy my gear. What im looking to know is when does BPS normally do the "End Of Summer Sale"? Im doing my best to hold out and get a good deal on all my gear but need a goal or time frame to look foward to my big purchasing day. Thank for the Help....New to the Forum and look foward to posting and keeping ya'll updated on my progress. Thanks -Mike US ARMY CAVALRY

This is What I have my eye's on right now: Abu Garcia "Vendetta" , BPS Carbonlite Micro Trigger Rod, E21 Carrot Stix Wild Micro. For Reels Im Lookin At: BPS Pro Qualifier baitcasters (2) , Shimano Stradic CI4F (this one is a little too pricey but still in the running due to having used it and loving the way it feels). I guess another good question to ask is what in your opinions is a good number of rod/reels to have for the intermediate phase of fishing? Im thinking 3 right now: 1) Crankbaits/Jigs 2) Worms/Topwater 3) Spinbaits. I keep going back and forth between getting 2 or 3....So Share what you think..... And PerchPunk22 Your Very Welcome Love what I do so continue to fish and soak it all up brother I'll be on the water in no time. Also if you guys have any other recommendations on rods/reels fill me in.

Your rods and reels sound good, but what you're going to use each for doesn't.

I would use my cranking setup for topwaters too as long as they have treble hooks (spooks, jitterbugs,etc.).

Try to get a M-MH rod with a Moderate action.

I would then get a setup dedicated to light plastics and lighter jigs. I recommend using a spinning set up for this.

I like M-MH power and a Fast action.

Lastly, I'd dedicate a setup to spinnerbaits, heavier plastics, jigs, and single hook topwaters.

Try getting a MH power with a Fast action rod. Vendettas are great rods for this.

The Vendettas, Carbonlites, and Pro Qualifiers are quality products that will last awhile.

I can't speak for the Carrot Stix or Stradic though.

Hope this helped.

I personally wouldent use the same rod for cranking as I do jigging. If anything have a rod for just jiging or punching. I'm running 4 rods 1 jig/punch rod(7'6mh veritas with revo sx) then I use a tenacy ap cheapo combo for my cranks and weightless plastics then I have a frog/spinner/topwater rod(7'lightning rod with pflueger echlon) then a bps extreme 6'6 spinning rod and ex40 sized reel for everything else mostly wacky rigs and finese presentations.

Thanks For All the Help Guys Still Learnin Alot esp when it comes to matching rods/reels with baits not like the old days when one rod did it all. Im taking notes from each reply and fine tuning my shopping list to ensure i get exactly what i need and its all well matched.

Its hard to beat some of the prices in the flea market too. I've almost quit buying online except from the flea market posts. You come across some great deals and you help out a fellow fisherman that may want the money for several other good reasons. I've got 5 or 6 pro qualifier reels and have never paid over $50 for any of them. Same holds true with just about anything else if your patient enough to wait until what your looking for comes around. *** will match any online deal you can find on other websites too. So, if your a bargain hunter that can really help out.

Hey man, don't know where you are in Baghdad but you could always go to the Security Forces Squadron on Sather and grab a rod, reel, and some French toast from the DFAC and catch some carp or some other crazy fish from Saddam's lakes around his old palaces. I just sent a bunch of stuff over there for our guys use. If you can, find a guy from Pittsburgh in Air Force Security Forces and tell them SSgt Kupfer sent you for fishing gear. Check out baghdadflyfishing.com to see all the stuff swimming in those lakes.

I bought a BP pro qualifier the original gold colored one and it has been my best reel yet.

Carrot stix I've heard to be very good. But I've never used them. I'm an Abu Garcia everything fan. I've rarely had a few upsets with their products.

Having a couple rods is always handy. And if you get into tournament fishing well. 2-3 may not be enough. But that's how many I use and I'm pretty comfortable with it.

I like to use Med. Hvy rods for just about anything unless I'm using lighter tackle then I use a Med spinning set up.

Thank you for the service.
