I've had numerous occasions where bass has shaken off my treble hooks.  I'm throwing my cranks off a Crucial 6'6 Med Extra fast, with 12 lb fluoro.  I know many would recommend using a glass rod or even switching to mono line for cranking, but I'm thinking about replacing my crank baits with new hooks such as this one

What do you think and what would you recommend?

Just kidding, sorry, had too much coffee this morning.  I've never tried those particular hooks, but I use the Daichi or Owner 3x or 4x trebles as well as SureSet trebles on the tail hooks with success.  I've actually had numerous fish that were hooked only on the single large hook of the SureSet.  But your choice should work fine for you, I just feel like the initial hookup potential is lower with inward pointed hooks.  

As long as you have good, strong, SHARP hooks you should be fine.  After that it all comes down to adapting the way you play the fish.  Obviously mono and a more forgiving rod will up your chances of keeping pressure on the fish without tearing the hooks out, but it can still be done with what you have.  It just takes more finessing of the fish during the fight.  

Most people would recommend a slower action. I think the XF isn't allowing the fish to get all of the bait in its mouth.

As far as hooks, I've heard some good things about the triple grips but haven't personally used them. I can highly recommend Owner ST-36 and Diacchi Death Traps though.

I've never used triple-grips, but be prepared to sharpen Mustad hooks. I use the 35647 roundbends from mustad and I have to sharpen them because they come nothing like sharp (I use them because they're cheaper than Gamakatsus or Owners and it's not hard to sharpen them). To sharpen them, I use sanding discs in a dremel.

I remember an episode of the bassmasters last year where Kevin Van Dam won on a red eye shad that had Mustad Triple Grips and Zona said that he didn't lose a single fish the whole tourney.  But he has lost fish since so who knows, I'm actually debating on getting some for my SK baits and Fat Free Shads, I hate bronze hooks.

What brand of cranks are you primarily using?  

The only problem with the Triple Grips is bending.  They are very weak.  

However, they do hold fish extremely well.  Dare I say, better than most trebles I've used (including Owner STR, VMC, Gama, Katsuage, etc.etc.).  

I HATE throwing these things around cover, though - because the second they touch anything and get a enough of a bite, they lock into it.  You'll pull your hair out if you fish cranks around a lot of sticky brush.

For the last several years I have switched out trebles for Daiichi Death Traps. I may not anymore though if they've lost their sharpness as was the case with the last batch I got. I sent them back and I'm waiting for replacements to arrive.

I hope they didn't somehow mess up the Death Traps. Prior to that last batch I got and sent back, the Daiichi's were the best treble hook on the market. Strong and crazy sharp.

Other than getting some sticky sharp trebles, I'd get an actual crankbait rod with a more moderate action. Any rod with a fast or xtra fast tip has a tendency to rip hooks out of the mouth. The moderate action will be much better and most likely take care of your problem.

Gammy EWG trebles on the rear have worked real well for me so far. I use round bend on the front.

i use a med power/med action rod and i don't have too much of a problem having fish come off.
