Only had about an hour and a half to fish yesterday and decided to do some deep crankin' (which I hardly ever do).

Had good success in 40'-50' of water with a Strike King 6XD and plan to do it some more next weekend. I guess I am "hooked."

What tips and suggestion do you have?

I have never deep cranked that deep...were you fishing the thermocline? I usually stick to the 12-20' range running my crank along the weedline parallel to the first drop off...I'm not saying those are the only places that you will have luck or to fish, I have just found those spots to be the most productive...only other advice would be to get a powerful rod and so when you do get hung up (which is a good thing) you can rip the crank out which often will entice a strike...

Deep cranking is my favorite way to fish and provide a day of fishing you may never thought was possible, so keep on chuckin!
