Long Term Storage

As some of you know I'm deploying in 3 months and will be gone for a year going like a year and a half without fishing!!! Should I do anything to my gear for long term storage. I was just thinking sending what reels are worth it to DVT for a cleaning and maybe a few upgrades once back putting em in a storage tote and giving it to my pops to hold onto till I return. Same with the rods I was just gonna get a piece of Pvc with 2 end caps and store my rods that way. My terminal and lures I'm prolie just gonna try to get some of that silica rust inhibitor stuff and toss it in the trays. Do you think this will work or have any other ideas or am I wasting my time worrying bout it.

Sounds like you've got it figured out. Good luck. :)

First off, Thank you for your service! Keeping your terminal tackle dry is a good idea. You can use dried rice in place of the silica if you want. Rods will be fine stored either vertical or horizontal in a rack.Just not leaned in a corner. The pvc could get pricey if you have a lot of rods. If you want the reels serviced we can take care of that. They can be stored wrapped in an old tube sock for safe keeping. Good luck!

Well its only 1 reel I see any point in taking care of at this point all my others are crap(tennacy ap,quantum probe, pflueger echlon, quan. burst, bps extreme spinning) I'm gonna buy another revo or 2 in a few weeks. But the junk reels I'm prolie gonna sell or give to my nephew I don't see putting money into them.

Make sure and back the drags off to avoid getting flat spots.

Why not sell them and have the money to get the newer advanced reels when you get back?

Id sell em but id prolie only make 50 bucks maybe for the whole lot and I ain't selling my revo that's my baby. Plus I'm buying new stuff when I get back like that revo mgx with a villian

Well they will be worth more now than when you get back. If you sell your revo now you could probably buy two when you get back since the price will drop.

Id rather just hold onto it for when home on leave I'm not to worried bout resale values money won't be to big of an issue when I return to buy a few more

If possible I would store your dear where it is not subject to large temperature changes. Indoor would be best. Stay safe...............Al
