Swimbait Rod

Featured Replies

I am going to use one of these baitcasting setups for small swimbaits like the Sebile Magic Swimmer, Spro BBZ-1 4in 7/8oz, and the Livetarget Blueback Herring. If I add any more they will be under 1oz. The two setups I can use are a BPS Extreme 6'6" MH Fast with a Shimano Chromica 200B 6.2:1 and 10# InvisX or a Falcon BuCoo 6'0" M Moderate with a Ardent C400 5.0:1 and 12# Hybrid. If I have some success with this technique I will surely get a dedicated rod and reel.

I have a 6'6" MH Extreme that we use for heavier jigs, and big worms. It handles 1 oz baits just fine. A longer rod will make throwing those baits easier, but the Extreme should give you a chance to see if you want to invest in another outfit. Good luck.

Yeah, I exclusively fish from my kayak so it's hard to use rods longer than 7'. I'll just try fishing them on both rods and decide which one to use.
