I'm going to Chicago with my fiance this weekend for his birthday. We live in Indianapolis and I'm surprising him with a fishing trip to Illinois! Neither of us have ever been to Chicago, so we need a list of things to do while we are there. We also need advice on Chicago hotels. That "Choose Chicago" site was suggested to me but we want a first hand review for wherever we decide to stay. Thanks for the advice everyone. Also, fill me in on the best fishing spots. I know he will be so excited.

So much depends on your budget for the week end. The down town hotels are great. I particuarly like north Michigan avenue north of the river and Trib building. Great resturants and the lake shore in walking distance. It can be pricey. I always liked it better on company money but the family and I went on occasion.
