Burke Lake - Will Ramp Handle Bass Boat

Featured Replies

I have a Tracker 17' bass boat, which I would like to use on Burke Lake using the trolling motor only. This boat requires a minimum of 2' of water. The water beyond the ramp looks pretty shallow. Has anyone recently launched a bass boat (not a jon boat) at Burke Lake?

???

I've had my 16' tracker in 6" of water w/ the ob trimmed up. Had to use a pole, but still.

And yes, you'll be fine @ Burke. I've been out there not only in my boat, but in a friends 20' BassCat. Just be ready to wade a bit.

I've seen a pontoon boat launch out of the free launch by the dam! But you should be fine with your boat. Launch closer to the dock side of the ramp.

Like the other guys said, the main ramp shouldn't be a problem. I've seen a fiberglass boat launch from the VDGIF launch by the dam.

Thanks for the advice, but I always assumed that I would launch from the VDIGF ramp because it is free and open 24X7. So, my original question was about only this ramp??

My response dealt only with the DGIF ramp. Never used the Park Authority ramp.

Thanks again. As soon as I get my bass boat back from the shop, I'm going to try Burke.

My response was about the park authority main ramp but you should be able to launch your aluminum. If the water is low you may need to put your rear wheels in the water a bit. You got 4WD?
