Skillful Angler Award?

Featured Replies

I'm interested in applying for the Skillful Angler Award in NJ but i'm not quite sure how. I'm strictly catch and release, and I have a picture of a Bluegill that I caught that was 10 inches with the measuring tape right on top of it, and the minimum is nine inches. The problem is that there are no authorized measurement takers at this lake, and i'm not quite sure if that's needed for the catch and release category. In the application it asks for weight, girth, "weighmaster's" name and number and stuff, but It doesn't say what categories it does/doesn't apply to. Can I apply?

Check on your DNR fisheries website. I know Maryland has a citation program, that I participate in as well and I am catch and release as well. A picture of the length and girth is required as well as specifics on where and when you caught it, name and address. If fishing with a buddy, include their name and contact information as well. Hope this helps and good luck!

That's what I thought, like you don't fill out the weighmaster stuff and the weight, which takes up about half the space
