I was at dick's yesterday and sawa combo that consisted of an Abu Garcia SilverMax reel with a Berkely 6'6" lightning rod, it was 64.99, any opinions as to its quality and performance before I buy it?

Not saying it's good or bad, but I would look in the classifieds here for awhile. I've seen some quality stuff going for fair prices.

It will do it's job. But did you check to see if your Dick's had any curados or citicas on sale still? Either of those would blow that combo out of the water and the citicas are going for like $30!

There going for 49.99 I got mine for 44.99 because it was the display model. Id piece a combo together rather then buy a combo from a store. Try to find a sale on a bc and then buy a nice rod that suites what u want

If the silver max works like my revo sx, then well id say get a shimano.

thanks guys, ill stick to the safe side and look for a citica it will last me alot longer and is better quality
