Let's compare the backorder procedures of BPS and TW.

If an item is on backorder at BPS, they don't know when it will be in stock.  They have an approximate ETA, but it is never right.  When they finally get the item in stock, they charge you again for shipping the item.

If an item is on backorder at TW, the ETA will be listed on the website and it is usually spot on.  When the item is stocked, it is shipped immediately and, if the original order was over $50, for free.

I have had BPS automatically cancel backordered items two weeks after I placed the order.  When I called to inquire about the cancellation, no explanation was given, only an apology and an offer to order the item at the non-sale price.

One must consider the size of TW and the size of BPS.  Yet TW consistantly offers better prices and deals than BPS.  TW's free shipping alone is reason enough to not patronize any other retailer.

Yes, TW does go out of stock on items often.  Mostly during the summer months when everyone is fishing.  I ordered a Mustang PFD from TW in February.  It was out of stock.  I waited around five weeks for the item to be restocked and shipped.  It wasn't a big deal.  They were (and still are) $60-70 cheaper than any other retailer on that item.

If you're in dire need of an item and it is out of stock, then I can see being somewhat miffed.  But if you needed it that badly, why did you wait so long to order it?

I was disappointed when TW only had one bag of 021 Flappin' Hogs in stock last week.  But it isn't the end of the world.  I have the option of ordered directly from Yamamoto or just doing without.  It isn't TW's fault that they're out of stock.  If anything, they are a victim of the quality of their service.

Tackle Warehouse is second to none in the tackle business.

Prices and selection are great..... EXCEPT... on the order I just placed 5 out of the 13 items were out of stock / backordered. Its nice their shipping is fast but it dosn't matter if they don't have it. Ive come to find this a nagging problem with TW on more than one occaision. I can see rare or larger items but not the small packages of popular plastics etc. Your very hard pressed to find out of stock items at BPS. It also stated at the bottom of my statement that your order will not be shipped until all items are ready and off of back order? So does this mean they make you wait until your two packs of worms come in before they ship the other $300 worth of stuff? May have misread that but if so, theres another area BPS has them beat- they will send whats not back ordered and send a seperate order later. Like I said though, great prices on alot of stuff.

Ive had many things that were backordered from them. They have always shipped the rest of my items with their usual promptness, and the backordered items when they arrive.

They once paid 4.75 to priority mail me 1 package of owner hooks that I didnt even realize were backordered. C L A S S !

Good deal, the way it read my whole order would not have shipped until the 28th because of the back orders which kind of scared me. Glad to know they do the same.

If an item is due to arrive within a week of your order, they will usually hold the shipment until it arrives.  Otherwise the order will ship and backordered items will be shipped upon their arrival.

That, on top of the already insane shipping prices and time it takes to even get the order processed.

BPS sucks fecal matter.Sorry if others don't agree.

Also, don't you think that you should be charged less for more you buy?

BPS is ****e. I'm sticking with TW.

I've only had one glitch with them where something was listed as in stock but was back-ordered for all of 2 days. Great company with the customer in mind; hope they don't change other than keeping a larger stock.  :P

Everyone has a opinion. I order thru BPS all the time. Some orders I have had upgraded for 2 day shipping at the cost of 5$. The next day I get a e-mail that my stuff is on the way and I recieve it in 2 days.

I have used TW just a couple times. Here is my last expierience with them. I ordered some stuff the spring before last. I recieved some of my order, the rest was backordered. I forgot about the backorder items. I moved in July. A month or 2 after my move I recieved some more of my order. The rest was still backordered. Sometime that winter I recieved a nice letter that they were sorry they could not fill my order and credited me back the items I did not recieve.

Kudos to TW though.....I completely forgot about the order and could of been out the $$$ too and they refunded it back to me.

just curious at what dollar amount do they give away their free t-shirts?

I am guessing over $150 or so! I ordered a new Powell rod at $169 and got one. Than ordered some lures at $68 and didn't!

I've hads about 7 or 8 different orders from TW in the past 2 years and they have been absolutley amazing.

One time one of the guides on my crucial rod was broken they offered to replace the rod (but seeing as though I live in Canada and have all my shipments sent to my sis in NY then re-shiped to me  under ''gift'' in canada i said it wans'T worth the trouble) they happily paid to fix the guid no questions asked.

Their customer service is beyond first clas.

Mike

TW rocks! I bought a rod, and some lures from them around fathers day. Three days later my order arrived and they still gave me free shipping with a multiple order ship. I will buy stuff from BPS sometimes, but only if I am in the area of one ( The nearest BPS is 1.5 hrs. away), but will only order from TW and Cabelas online in that order.
