Ocean Kayak Pgb For Sale

Featured Replies

I found this OK PGB for sale for $1000. Is this a good deal? If not what would be a good deal? I fish mainly lakes and slow rivers, I am 5"8" and @270.

This is a 2007 model purchased from Cabelas with every available option. It has hummingbird 383 color lcd fish finder with gps/chart plotter. Anchor trolley system, rudder, comfort deluxe backrest seat, 230cm simply magic paddle, and 12v battery. 600 pound weight capacity.

Thank you,

Mike

It's a great deal if you don't have to pay anything for it.

I guess I forgot something....the asking price is $1000.00. Thanks Grey Wolf, I changed the original post.

If that is the prerigged package, then it's not a bad deal. They were $1800 new. I have the same boat, similarly outfitted. I'd offer $850 for it. Check the keel for extreme wear, and the hull for oil canning.

What is "oil canning"? Also, comparing the PBG to the other popular SOTs for lakes and slower rivers, how does it rate? To me it seems like a helluva boat? But my knowledge is limited.

Thanks,

Mike

Oil canning is when the hull gets "wavy" Like a plastic quart of oil with the sides sucked in. A little is OK, but if it looks deformed, run away.

The PBG is a beast. It's heavy, and wide, so it isn't the easiest to paddle. It tracks OK. It's as stable as a floating dock. You'll fall off it before it rolls. Practice trying to push it to the edge without any gear in shallow water to gain confidence. It's a great big water boat. There are better long distance boats, and there are more nimble boats, but for getting on all kinds water, standing, carrying capacity, rigging options, and storage, it can't be beat. I love mine. It's like a bass boat without the payment.

I looked at the boat today and it looks to be in very good shape. To be specific about the boat, he bought it as a pkg deal from Cabelas. He showed me the paperwork. It has two rod holders that are vertical off the back seat. It also has the square hatch that sits right in front of the seat. The paddlse even has the strap with it. I don't think there wold be anything else to buy. I already have a milk crate. Going to talk to the boss on this one.

I'd say it's a buy. Start at $850.
