Weird Structure (Pic Inside)

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was recently messing around with Google maps and I was looking at my local neighborhood lake in the year 2002, when the lake was completely drained to build a dam.

I have attached the picture to two weird structures that caught my attention. These two structures appear to be different in color. They also seem to have some sort of rock piles on top of them. I have confined to shore and I don't have a boat. I have been trying to reach these areas with a heavy Carolina Rig but I only did so briefly and I have not caught any fish there. They are about 40-50 yeards away from shore.

My question is, what do you think these things are? Are they underwater humps?

Thanks,

Carlos

It's tough to tell by looking at the pics you attached. :computer-22:

My guess would be that the color change goes along with a change in content of the soil. Though I can't see them, if there are rocks present where the color change occurs, it could be outcroppings of gravel surrounded by softer soils. They could also be areas that just haven't been covered over by silt. You may want to discuss this with any residents that lived there during the time of the draw down of the lake to see if they remember anything about it.

Regardless, if it does represent a change in bottom content, it would pay to try to work the edge if it become reachable.

I would say hard clay or rocks. Being dark red could be humps that have dried out more than the surrounding area.

How did you go back to 2002?

Thank you for the interpretations. To go back, look at the very top toolbar. There should be a small icon with a clock on it. Just click on it, pull it up and you should be able to move a slide bar to different times. I'm using google earth, not google maps.

I'm pretty sure he is using the Google Earth application but he explained how to change the time right.
