1996 Mariner Efi Ecu

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to remove an ecu from the motor? Not sure on actually how but the main problem is right now, is finding a replacement? Does the replacement ecu have to be the same model from the same engine or can it come from a different engine?

ecu on that motor is on the front of the intake. why are you replacing the ecu? has it been tested to see if it's bad? don't really hear of those failing. probably not going to be cheap finding a replacement unit. I would say check on ebay. needs to be for the same motor that you have or it won't have the correct fuel air amounts for the injectors.

I have a 1995 200hp Mariner that I had to rebuild the ECU on. Its the big black computer box that sits in the front of the motor. There should be 2 nuts on the top and a bolt on the bottom holding it on, atleast on mine. I would suggest sending it to Simon Motorsports in CA. He did mine for $500 with a 1 year warranty. The next cheapest option would be buying a Bracatos ACU unit to fit your motor. I have heard nothing but good things about them, but they are $1000. A new ECU will be $1700 or so. Mine was rebuilt in March and Ive had no problems from it since.

I really do not know what is wrong with it.

The motor messes up and it will start working after I tap the ecu a few times with a hammer. And I have unscrewed the box but its like it is sealed to the motor.
