Tackle Storage For The Winter

Featured Replies

Greetings, Due to the recent birth of my new daughter ( :D ) I have lost the spare bedroom as my tackle storage locker.

Is it ok to leave tackle in the shed all winter? i suppose all the hardbaits are fine but what about softplastics? Im in the Northeast and its about to get REAL cold REAL soon and i just dont know how that will affect my baits.

I always leave mine out all winter and have never had any problems...

I would find a place indoors to store it, somewhere where its dry, dark, and no rodents.

Well, my shed is a completely sealed modern shed...Its just unheated

I've always stored my stuff in an unheated shed. No problems so far.

That sounds dark and rodent free. Is it dry? By that I mean not humid or damp. If so, it's fine.

I live in Missouri and I've not had any problems storing soft plastics in my unheated outbuilding. I do keep everything sealed in plastic show boxed or storage totes, something to keep the mice out. This summer I used some pork baits that I had forgotten about and had been through several (6 or 7) freezing/thawing cycles, and they worked fine. They were a little softer than new pork baits, but they worked ok. I wouldn't worry about it.

Congrats on the birth of your new baby Dman!

I have free indoor storage for all of your stuff at my place! I'm in Southern California and will keep all of your gear in tip top shape as I will use them all winter. :)
