Places To Fish And Camp In The Same Spot?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of some good places to fish and camp in the same spot in new england? I have a couple in maine but would like to try some new spots

I know of a few in CT, but that's pretty far from Maine. Let me know if you are interested.

I would love to find a place a remote area in New England that you can camp but only get there by boat. Sort of like backpacking only via the water and not trails. - tate
Sounds like a tent camping deal to me. I'm thinking it would be more suitable for canoes, jon boats, kayaks, etc. They can be hauled out of the water onto the beach. Larger boats would require a sheltered cove, or a protected sandy beach. There may be some with a dock that are accessible only by water. Sounds interesting for sure. I have a new tent and sleeping bags.

edit: I know a guy who has a nice, portable, stainless steel grille that is perfectly suited to this scenario. Don't forget the horseradish cheddar.

Waramaug State Park - on lake Waramaug and located in Kent, CT I think (there are 4 towns that border the lake and I'm not sure which one the state park is in). It is a beautiful lake and currently my favorite lake in CT.

Kettletown State Park - on lake Zoar and located in Southbury, CT. Lake Zoar is park of the Housatonic River system so there is a decent Smallmouth population.

I have been camping at Zoar since I was a small child and have taken my boat the past few years. There is a public state launch with plenty of parking. I haven't done any camping at Waramaug, but the launch only has about 8 parking spots and it's first come first serve.

Cove Campground in Center Conway NH. The only campground on Conway Lake. Great place on a great lake. Private launch, extra parking for your trailer and plenty of on the water sites. We usually head up for the spawn and have a blast.
