Me and the oldman were hanging out in the garage the other day. An he mentioned a friend he used to work with that had become a BASS pro. This was back in the late seventies or eighties. He was curious if any of yall had ever heard of him. He went by the name "Taco". I can't remember his full name, but will get it from my pops tommorow.

Was his last name Bell? Sorry :Idontknow: , I couldn't resist.

Then again, maybe you had it coming to you for that "old guys" description since I resemble that remark.

LOL least I didn't use "old goats" ;)

Taco Bland. I think he was from Alabama. I recall he fished pretty high in a BASS event fishing a little jig head with a straight tail worm. He just dropped it and shook it, thus the technique was born called the " Shakey Head. " The event was won in 30 feet of water on spotted bass. The winner's name escapes me. He was from the northeast. Hope this helps.

Edit: Danny Corriea (spelling ) won it I think

Yep.^ Fred "Taco" Bland. There was a line of jig heads called "Fred's

heads" or something like that.

They were marketed by Bush Hog Lures, but I don't think they are in business any longer. They were basically a ball-head jig with a larger than normal hook, much like the shakey head jigs available today.

That's him. The old man just confirmed it for me. It always shocks me how many people he knows. He was just tellin me he went fishing with him a couple times, and said Taco was catching 4 to every 1 that he caught. Said that man could find em, catch em, and bag em like it was nothing.
