I have a Curado 200e that I need to get a new rod for. What are opinions on either a Crucial or Dobyns Savvy. Planning to use the rod for bottom contact lures.

Crucial ANY day of the week!

I have both a Savvy and a Crucial. The Crucial is a tad bit heavier, but WAY more sensitive. The Savvy is nice for moving baits as it balances perfectly and feels great i my hand, but it just seems dead when fishing jigs and plastics. With the Crucial I can feel most everything. The 2 models I have are the Savvy 734 and the Crucial 7'M/XF.

Crucial for sure man. I love the sensitivity, weight, and the new reel seat. Not to mention it is a Shimano!

Crucial > Savvy. Champion or Champion Extreme would be different, but the Savvy is not near the quality of a Crucial at that price point.

I've fished two Savvys, a 734 that was mine and a 735 that is hookingems. I'm a "Dobyns Fanboy" as some would say, but that Savvy 734 really let me down sensitivity wise. I really couldn't feel anything.

The 735 on the other hand is IMO the absolute best rod in that lineup. Perfect frog/toad rod. Lots of backbone and a quick tip. It also works well for pitching, but the sensitivity as mentioned early simply isn't there.

The new Crucial - wow. I think it's hands-down, no questions asked the BEST rod for the price on the market right now. I'm just not a fan of split-EVA grips.
