Ok i am looking for a spinning outfit to fish shaeky heads on and some drop shotting.i am leaning towards a 7ft med with either fast or xfast, but here are the combos i had in mind. All of these combos are from BPS, due to my gift cards being from there.

1.Shimano fi2500w/ basspro carbonlite $260

2.Pflugear supreme xt (blk and gold one) w/basspro carbonlite $210

3.Johnny morris spinning reel w/new johnny morris rod $200

4. daiwa exceler tsh w/new xps extreme $190

5. abu garcia orra sx w/xps extreme $170

just wanted to know opinions if anyone had any experience with these rods and reels and if they can shed some light on them. my price range caps at $260 but if there is something else that you guys recommend please let me know. i will be heading to my local store next week to feel them out. thanks

Do you mean the Stradic for the Shimano?

I've had 3 Stradic FI's & 2 Supreme XT's (the all gold one and the new black/gold one. I got the new XT based on how well the gold one performed and it is very nice as well. My experience with Stradics wasnt good so wouldnt buy another.

Cant comment on the rods or other reels havent used them.

Out of that list I'd vote for #1, but if it's possible to change it I'd get a Shimano Crucial (~$150) and downgrade the reel to a Shimano Sahara (~$80) to stay in that same price range.

My advice for this type of fishing is to scew the budget more toward the rod. St Croix Avid AVS 68MXF ($180 at BPS)is a good rod. Pflueger President one of the best bang for your buck spinning reels ($60 at BPS)

Pfleuger President is a great reel for the money; smoother in my experience than a comparably priced Shimano. Match it with a Shimano Compre or Crucial and some goof fluoro and you will be on budget and have a great combo.
