2 Piece Rods

Featured Replies

I am looking for a L setup and so far all i can find are 2 piece L rods. I have never fished with a 2 piece rod, are there any distinct problems or disadvantages that come with a 2 piece?

There have been no disadvantages or problems for me as I have fished 2 pc rods for years and still have a 2 pc rod I use for shallow to mid diver cranks and a couple of others with no regrets at all. Rod technology has really improved making the 2 pc rod a good choice for limited space without sacrifice on sensitivity.

i primarily use two piece rods because its easier to travel with them in my car. i have no problems with them at all. i have 5'6 Light 2pc ugly stik lite-pro that has been an awesome rod for me. most would overlook it because its got ugly stik on it, but aside from strength, its not like the original ugly stiks

St Croix has 7' light 1pc rods

On the 2pc I have a 2pc 8'MLM Avid that has been a great rod I feel. Its still more sensitive than my 7' Smoke 1pc rod and my 6'6" Premier 1pc rod. Never has it come apart or felt as it would, actually never think about it.

A quality blank with built in ferrules is plenty sensitive and durable. If you want something you can't find over the counter, you can have it built.

i used to only fish with 2 piece rods due to storage issues, but ive since upgraded to a truck. and won't you know it, most of the two piece rods are still in my arsenal! (besides one or two that got shut in the truck door, stepped on,...etc.). the thing i like about them is being able to store them easily. with a 2 piece in my truck cab, i'm always ready to wet a line. plenty sensitive, shouldnt twist or come apart if made by a halfway decent company. pair it with a good reel, and it will last you just as long as any other rod!

I have an older 2 piece 7ft Shimano Compre mh/f fast I was thinking about useing for jig's on Big O this weekend but kinda worried about losing sensitivity at the joint, and it twisting or coming apart at the wrong time.

I think I feel just a little better.
