I have a ram mounted hds 7 conected to my bow mounted hds 5x via ethernet cable and understand how to install an update from the 7 to the 5x but was needing to know which update I need to view the structure scan thru the 5x?

    I don't understand what you mean by installing an upgrade from one unit to another. However, if your 5x is capable of seeing the lss1 structure scan then the ethernet cable is how it is done.

    It is always important to install the latest Lowrance updates. For HDS, the current public release is 4.0.36.59. Yes, the 5X is completely compatible with the StructureScan.
