Fishing Log

Featured Replies

I am currently in the process of making a fishing log program for the computer. I am wanting you guys to tell me what you would like to see in a fishing log program (once i get it done ill probably hand it out to everyone for free). The only thing i have for it so far is a bait data base so you can log what bait you caught the fish on. Please say anything you think would be useful.

For some ideas, check out the hardcopy log in the Tools section of this board here: http://www.bassresou...ishing_log.html

For more ideas - read through this thread from last week on fishing logs - especially the log attached to post #35. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/95756-good-fishing-logsjournals/

Have fun!

I under stand whats normaly on the logs, but what do you think is missing or would be nice to have. Since im making this program from ground up i can add any feature or statistic anyone would want. its those things im asking for ideas on.

I have a column on my excel spreadsheet for rigging. Usually what goes in there is c-rig, t-rig, or weightless. I also have a fairly large note section where I write down stuff like "a lot bugs in the water", that won't fit anywhere else.

Would be great if it would run on my smartphone (I have a Droid).

This one will only be for computers (windows, mac, and linux), but if it works well and people like whats in it i can always remake it for android

The more information the better, as long as, it doesn't become cluttered or a bunch of useless info. Eg. sky conditions, wind direction, wind speed, moon phase, pre/post front (how many days), water conditions, seasonal pattern, time of year, time of day, bait type, rig type, line type, specific notes like presentation or retrieve type and multiple casts (how many to target). This is some of the things that would be great to have.

I am interested in this project but have some questions. You say data base that to me is alot of info to collect there is alot of baits our there so please explain just how far your taking that. If it is going to be a program i would put every stat or feature know to man because there is so many different ways to fish for 1 species not to mention the others. I have alot of features on my log and it is kinda cluttered but i plan on printing it and putting it in my boat to keep up with it fish by fish ( post #35. http://www.bassresou...g-logsjournals/) I guess one thing that would be neat would be when you type in the lake name it would generalize the selections that pertain to that lake. For ex. Lake: Sam Rayburn - Water clarity: Stained, Muddy - Bottom: sand, clay, rock - Vegetaiton: grass, hydrilla, stumps, laydowns, but you could still pick different options i could go on forever i will ask some friends of mine who fish alot more than i do for some info Email me qjoeswift@aol.com and i will help you get this done. Good idea though
