Gear Oil And Fuel Mixture For A 1966 Evinrude

Featured Replies

I have a 1966 Evinrude Fastwin, 18HP, 2 stroke engine.

Can anyone recommend a good brand of gear oil that I should use in this? I have recently drained the old and am ready to replace with new. Are there any brand I should stay away from or are they all treated equal?

Same thing as above, can anyone recommend a good brand of fuel oil mixture? The motor I have requires a mix ratio of 50:1. Are there any brand I should stay away from or are they all treated equal?

any lower unit gear oil will work just fine. for oil, any tcw3 oil mixed at 50:1 will do the trick. to get a 50:1 mix you add one pint of oil to 6 gals of gas. those are great old motors and run very good when tuned properly.
