2Nd Hand Rods

Featured Replies

I've never bought used fishing rods from anywhere before. I see some rods listed for sale, not here any more so than the other sites, that list the lifetime warranty in a description of the used rods. I see some people confirming this belief, commenting such things as "great company to deal with" etc. Yet every manufacturer seems to state that the warranty applies to the original purchaser only. The only possible loophole i've seen is one or two that don't require you to ship a dated sales receipt in along with your broken rod. But other than that, it looks to be simply untrue that warranty changes hands with the rod. I'm just looking for something definitive here. Thanks

P.S. i truly enjoy reading and gathering information from your community here.

I'm sure this will vary from brand to brand what manufacturer are you looking at?

that's the thing. it doesn't seem like it varies from company to company, or you would see rods without warranty transfers selling for substantial amounts off of retail, and you would see rods with transferable warranties selling for darn well retail.....i would think. It seems simple in my head, maybe the ads are just doing a good job of misleading me.

n thanks :D

I have bought a few used St Croix's with the lifetime warrenty...if your not the original owner you use the gold star program, for $50, no questions asked, they replace the rod.

If it's Daiwa or shimano the lifetime warantee applies whoever has the rod for replacement. No question asked. Oh yeah Phenix Rods also works the same way but requires $50 for replacement fee.

great, thanks for the information. Apparently it is complicated enough to vary by manufacturer. But its good to know that at least a few of them have no questions replacement programs for a fee. Saved me some scratch on the next few...uhh...investments.
