Daiwa Sol Alpha Baitcasting Reel???

Featured Replies

I recently posted a request for recommendations for an ultralight baitcaster with LH wind. One recommendation was a Daiwa Sol/Alpha.

I cant seem to find this reel on any of the suppliers websites.

Are they no longer available?

Both the Sol and the Alphas have been discontinued. Your best bet to find one is the flea market on this site. One or the other pops up occasionally. I've bought three Alphas from the Bass Resource flea market and one from Japan Tackle.

Expect to pay more for an Alphas, the JDM version of a Sol. They are lighter and smoother. Plus, they are not that ugly yellow color.

You know, being red-green color-blind, you'd think I would have learned to keep my opinions on color to myself. It's apparent this a lesson I have yet to learn. LOL

The only time I had a Sol in my hands, it looked to me to be a dirty yellow color. I never asked anybody what color it actually was. I just knew it was fugly.

Not entirely accurate about the Pixy color, it depends if it´s a mainstrean Pixy ( Silver ) or a limited edition, 2003 ( "Frosted" orange sideplates & silver frame ), 2004 ( Racing Yellow sideplates & black frame ) or 2005 ( "Frosted" red sideplates / silver frame ).
