What line type do you recommend to use when throwing this rig. My a-rig is 3/8(just the lure). The 5 jig heads are 1/8. Between those 2, I will be at a weight of 1 oz. Add in the swimbaits weight in addition to that. I am going to use a 7'6" heavy power rod. My reel already has 17 pound fluoro. It seems alot of people like to use braid. What does everyone recommend. Thanks.

Paul Elias (the guy that won the Guntersville tournament and started the whole A-rig craze) recommends #80-#100 braid.

With heavy weights and a backlash involved, you will loose the whole rig by the line breaking.

It's your money, you can downsize as much as you are comfortable with.

Bare minimum 65# braid. I could nearly guarantee you will break off with 17 lb fluoro. I've seen them break off 50 lb just on a cast.... Visibility and feel are not issues, may as well go as heavy as possible.

At least 60lb braid, a heavy rod, and a high speed reel.

I promise you will feel the bite. They hit it like a freight train. So feel isn't an issue.

I have been throwing it on 20lb seagaur fluorocarbon with no problems, but I worry about throwing that heavy of a rig stretching out that fluorocarbon and it eventually just snapping on the cast. I think I will be spooling either 25 or 30lb cxx for this rig in the near future. I just don't like braid and moving baits at all......so I'm going to fish it on the same equipment that swim bait guys throw their big baits on.

Initially, I've been fishing the rig with 25lb Abrazx. It's alright, but I've broken off a time or two. I upsized to braid, it's the right choice.

Pretty much but I give it a few quick pops from time to time. This will make the bass that are following it bite.

I use 80lb braid. Dad has broke off 2 with 65 (and 1 with 80lb but idk how) I havn't lost one of mine yet

25# P-line CXX has been fine for me, but the rigs I've used are light.

I've been using 65lb braid and check it and retie from time to time. Its a lot of weight and there is always the possibility of loosing it on a cast. I really like the braid because if you get snagged you have the high strength to straighten out a snap and get your rig back.
