New C rig presentation

Featured Replies

Well, it's new to me anyway.I usually do my c rigs at about 14" to 18" from weight to bait.I got bored the other day and tried setting my weight really far from my bait.About 4'.5" maybe more. The only flaw is it is hard to cast. The kind of cast you have to swing around from behind you with a sidearm motion. Anyway, I was casting into a creek channel and the way it was working was the weight would sit and the bait was being swept away by the current. You can think what you want about it. Some of ya'll may have already figured this out, but it works. Just thought I would share.

Leader length is an important and often overlooked aspect of the carolina rig.If your on fish but not getting the kind of bites you desire try switching lengths and of course baits as well.Certain baits perform better for me on shorter or longer leaders as well. The longer the leader the less action on the bait.It won't swing around and glide as much,it will move in a wide slow motion.A shorter leader causes the bait to move more frantically. I like a nice long leader in clear water and a shorter one around 18 inches or so in dirty water.

If your ever in shallow clear water or even a swimming pool toss it out and retrieve steady and you'll see the difference in action the different lengths makes
