Looking For Peacocks

Ok, Im sure plenty of people on this site fish for Peacock Bass here in South Florida. I am trying to plan a day to take my wifes grandfather fishing for them. I do see a lot of videos that are posted on youtube and such that show some people in canals in the Miami area. Can someone help a fellow fisherman and tell me where to go? If anyone on here has a good canal for them and can help me so I can get some fish on, it would be greatly appreciated. I am going to be walking the banks and not using a boat. I live in Coral Springs in Broward, so I know all the canals around here, and walk different ones evertime I go out. I just need a good hot spot to pinpoint for one day.

Many of the good Pcock vids on youtube are shot in the Miami Airport Lakes, specifically the Blue Lagoon area. It is a vast network of canals that branch out from the MIA around the Palmetto Expressway and sundivisions off tamiami trail. The canal west of the turnpike and on north side of Tamiami trail is walkable and loaded with P's. Another good many videos are from the Falls Mall area. Can't give you any walking areas since I'am normally in a boat. Many of those places would be hard to fish since you would be in folks backyards. I would use Google Earth and look for the roads passing over the canals and fish the bridges.

I posted a video in other fish species, you can probably hit them up on youtube

I've caught a few peas in the Delray, Boynton area, small fish, for bigger peas you have to get to the Miami area. I have fished western Broward, have yet to catch one over 2-3 lbs.

For pure fishing fun, it's hard to beat Jack Crevelles, they can be had minutes from where you live, these fish can run from 1/2 lb to 40#.

Is that the North Fork Miami River?

Not sure but if yiu use Google Earth...its the lakes and canal around the Miami International Airport. The Falls is a canal that runs behind the Fall Mall of US 1 in south miami.

Is that the North Fork Miami River?

It's mapped as the C-4 canal

The falls canal capt shane is talking about is known as C-100 I grew up in one of the houses that is on that canal. There is good peacock bass fishing in that canal. Also if you still havent found them google map Lakes by the bay (Neighborhood in south miami) there are several nice lakes in that neighborhood that are loaded with big peacock bass. Get ya a silver rattle trap and throw that around all day and youll catch one but a shiner is like peacock bass crack.
