Lure selection

Featured Replies

Situation - You are put in a boat with no electronics on a river/lake that you have never been on before. You don't know the water temp., depth, or bottom composition.  With your polorized sunglasses you can see about 18 inches down into the water. Its sunny out but you can't take the season of the year into consideration. You can choose 4 lures of your choice. What are they? Be specific. Type, color, and reason why you chose the lure.

1. Senko (motor oil/red flake) I always feel like there's a chance to catch a fish with a senko, regardless of the conditions.

2. 3/8 oz Bullet style jig n pig (brown/green) versatile jig you can swim or crawl. Produces good fish regardless of bottom composition.

3. Rapala DT-4 (shad) Good search bait. Fun to fish.

4. *** solid body frog. Fish it fast or slow. Open water or over the weeds. Also a fun fish catcher.

Wow thats a very indirect question. I guess that it asking what lures would you use year around. If thats the case then I can answer than easily.

Tandem Spinnerbait in char/white 1/2 oz

3/8 oz brown Paca Jig  tipped with a paca chunk of a matching brown

DD22 in tennessee shad

Davis Shaky Worm in watermelon on a 1/8 jig head

Mottfia

1.Tennessee Shad patterned HJ-10 Husky Jerk.

This can be a good search bait and I can catch fish on this in almost any water temp.  I can fish it as fast or slow as I want.

2.Mouse patternd 3/8 War Eagle spinner bait with a gold colorado blade and a nickel indiana blade.

Pretty much the same reasons as the jerk bait but I can cover deeper water with it by slow rolling and it can also be thrown deeper into cover.

3. Green Pumpkin Skinny Bear Elite Series Jig with a California 420 Smallie Beaver on the back.

Just another bait that I can catch fish with year round in any water temp.

4. Green Weenie 6" straight tail JB worm.

I can texas rig or drop shot this in almost any water depth and it is great if there is grass around.
