Backpack Tacklebox?

Featured Replies

So I am in the market for a backpack tacklebox. My fishing partner has a BPS backpack tacklebox that works great and holds up to 10 cases for lures and such. I was looking at the Shimano blackmoon tacklebox but I was concerned it was to small. It says it holds 4 Plano 3650 boxes. How big are those? Does anyone have personal experience with this item? I want to try fit my assortment of Jigs and soft plastics in 2 cases and then my cranks/power lures in the other 2.

The 4 3600(3650,is the same size) fit in the bottom part. Look at a pic and you'll see an arch around the section that has Shimano on it, that is also empty storage. The side pockets fit 3500 sized boxes (1ea). They hold waaaaaay more than the description states.

webertime, that has to be the best avatar!

FWIW, I was looking at the same Shimano Black Moon backpacks, that is, until I decided to take up fishing from a kayak. It'd probably still work out great, but I now use a BPS double-sided worm bag and a plano box or two with hard plastics.

I have the BPS bass stalker tackle bag which holds and to be honest, it is way to big for a shore bag. For me, when I shore fish, I bring a fishing satchel that holds two 3600s, one 3500, and a few bags of plastics. I also take that satchel when I go out in the kayak. That shimano backpack looks really nice though, 4 3600s and it looks like it's got enough misc pocket. I don't think I would pay 120 for it but it is nice.

just get an old ALICE pack from an army navy store.

Buy the Bass Pro one. It holds more boxes, and costs significantly less. I have two, plus a rigging bag, and they are some of the best products out there, the quality and craftsmanship with the materials and stitching is beautiful.

I have one of the older model Blackmoons and my buddy has the BPS XPS one. The Shimano's build quality is WAY better and is more practical in size in my opinion.

That Blackmoon will carry 4 3600's (Cranks, Terminal, Jigs, and some trailers), the side pockets fit 2 3500's (Jerkbaits and Topwaters), the upper section can hold your senkos/flukes/tubes/RAGE/etc. in their bags/ziplocks and a few spinnerbaits in a wallet or small FTO spinnerbait box. There are side loops and pouches for all your pliers/tools/scents so the are right where you need them. That's plenty big enough for a shore-pounder or co-angler.

Check ebay for deals on the Blackmoon's I got mine for significantly less than retail.
