Time Spent In Area?

Featured Replies

Here is something I have been wondering as a new angler. My favorite local lake has a perimeter with a lot of structure overhang and obviously a deep center. How long do I stay in a certain area anchored down before I move. My average time on the water on fishing days lets say is 4 hours. If I was thinking find four spots and stay there an hour each. Also, if I catch one in a certain spot is it better to stay there or try to get more somewhere else. My objective is not to spend 4 hours in one place and get nothing but a tan. Lol. Joe.

something i think most of us wonder about. tried many different approaches my best advice is to listen to ur gut and learn something evrytime out on the water put all the these lessons or experiances together

If you get a bite in an are defiantly stay there for a little while and get another bite. Usually you'll find multiple bass in one area. If you get multiple fish off an area you may want to move to let it cool down a bit but go back before you leave for the day. I'll usuall spend about 30min in one specific area before I move to the next. I will first start with cranks and spinnerbaits looking for aggressive bass for about 15 min. If I haven't gotten anything I will work it over slower with jigs and worms for about 15 min. If I still haven't gotten anything I'll move on.

I really like what was said about trying crank for about 15 min, then move to slow worms , then try another area if that still doesn't work. :-)
