Anyone on smallies around Presque Isle or Sandusky Bay?

We were on them out of PI in the main lake last Sunday. Boated 21 lost many more. We will be there this Sunday too. So far the weather looks like a green light. Find the bait, and you will find the fish.

Good luck on Sunday. I have a trip scheduled for PI on the 31st. This will be our fourth visit so far. My buddy and I really do enjoy fishing up that way when we can.

Its worth the extra drive for us comming from the Pittsburgh. The bay affords the use of many techniques as well the opportunity to catch both largies and smallies.

Last year we fished the W's with no luck, came back into the marina and caught some largemouth and smallmouth. When we came back to PIB, we ended up fishing a mudline. If you hooked a fish in the muddy water it was a largemouth. If it was in the clean water it was a smallie. We had a decent day catching plenty of fish but nothing to write home about. One four pound smallie was our largest fish off the sea wall just before you went into the main lake. We decided to come up earlier looking for larger fish in light of the warmer weather.

Its fixin to get out of control here for the next couple months.

the bay can down right spoil you when "it's on" The main lake is where Ive caught my six an up fish, thats not to say that they arent in the bay cause the are.

look for lots of bait near the bottom then drop down and try to stay on the bait. or you can just drift HEAVY tubes.....sooner or later you will hook up.

I'm headed to sandusky, OH to fish next week for my son's spring break. We've fished St Clair a lot but never Erie so it should be interesting. Any reports or tips for the area would be greatly appreciated! We're planning on fishing around the islands.
