Any Luck With Cabelas Rods?

Featured Replies

Im going to get a pfleuger president and plan on getting a rod from 5'8 to 6' and in a 2 piece for easy travel. Suggestions for the rod within 30-80 dollars?

The Cabelas Prodigy is a very good rod and normally $100 and on sale now for $70 but doesn't come in a 6' 2 pc rod. i have a 7' 2pc MH/MF casting rod and a 7' 2pc M/F spinning rod.

I have an XML, an XMLTi, and a Fish Eagle 2 and all of them are very good rods. Cabelas does a great job with service also, you break a rod or just don't like it then take it back, now if you don't like it you only got 60 days but rods like the Fish Eagle have a 20 year warranty on defects.

Cabelas prodigys are on sale for $69. Very nice rod for that price. IMO Cabelas rods are a good bang for the buck and when they are on sale it is even better.

X2 on the Prodigy. I have the 7' medium in a two pieca and use it as a general purpose rod. It handles most things short of 3/4 oz+ baits and very heavy cover well.

I bought two 2-piece Cabelas Tourney Trail bait casters 9 years ago ($60 each) and they have proven to be really nice rods. They only weigh 4.2oz, are IM7 MH, 1/4-1oz, 8-20lb rated. I am sure the new Tourney Trails are even better. I was surprised that the rods were that light that long ago. I still use the daylights out of them.
