Ticking Noise From Trolling Motor

Featured Replies

I have a speed sensative ticking/chirping sound from my trolling motor. Performed normal maintenance check and nothing is behind the blade. When spinning the shaft manually without the blade on I can hear the sound. The shaft maybe? What can I do?

I had the same noise on 2 different TM's, there are tiny washers that go on the screws when the motor housing is put together, and I bet one of the washers fell off and is inside the motor. This even happened on a brand new TM for me.

Did you have the motor apart reccently?

is the motor a motorguide if it is ,it may be the modular in the motor. motorguide's are known for that. also check the prop houseing , make sure the prop is not hitting the sides of the motor, the shaft may be bent, or there my be a dent on the prop. hope that helps you out.
