Can't thank you all enough for all the tips mentioned here. The very first fish I hooked I landed. The FIRST crankbait fish I have ever landed!!!! Here's what I learned: Swapped my rod out. Kept my floro. Removed my snap swivel and attached a regular snap (50# I think?) Increased my treble by 1 size. Set my drag properly. Easy set of hook. Work the fish easy but firm. PUT HER IN THE BOAT!!!! Do an Iaconelli celebration! (never done that before, I was excited!) THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!!!!!!!

Two for me. First one, my cousin was demonstrating to me how to set a hook. He got a bite, set the hook hard and out of the water came a 2 1/2lbs bass. Flew right into my man region, dehooked the bass and hooked the, how do you say this politely...my rod tip. I just stood there for 30 seconds staring at it in fear. THANK GOD it came out easy. The second time was with my wife. The waves were out pretty good and I sarcasticly told her to get her "sea legs" on. As I was casting from the front on a downward wave the boat fell on a stump throwing me in the water. This was this year in January. After making sure I was ok my wife laughed her butt off.

It has been well over a month since I have been fishing. The best bass season is done and I missed it. I just couldn't get out of work!! --------What is your best can't go to work to go fishing excuse? HELP!!!

My truck has 245hp my boat 250hp. Perfectly ok right?. My wife thinks I might have a slight water speed problem. I explained that the faster we get there the longer we can fish. Good enough reasoning,right? Besides you can't have too much horsepower can you?

Just wondering if using a snap swivel to quickly change from one crankbait to another is ok to use. Earlier I asked about losing fish once they were hooked and I have my line set up with a swivel now. Wondering if that might have something to do with it as well. Unfortunately I haven't been back on the water since my last post!

I have a speed sensative ticking/chirping sound from my trolling motor. Performed normal maintenance check and nothing is behind the blade. When spinning the shaft manually without the blade on I can hear the sound. The shaft maybe? What can I do?

HELP!!!! I have been bass fishing for about a year and a half now. With worms,jigs,spinnerbaits,spooks I set my hook and fight the bass back to the boat as needed. I started using crank baits and in the last two outings I has four solid, or so I thought, hook sets, but couldn't get the fishto the boat all the way. They are there and then gone. Using 12-17#flouro on medium action rod with curado reel. Please help. Two of the four were what you folks have been calling pigs!!

WOW!! Some of you guys are actually organized! I thought my system of throwing the Gander bag full of stuff into a storage area on the boat and then opening each bag as I needed stuff was working . I guess I need to get organized. It appears that that is the way to go .

You all keep talking about jigging but I have found the hokie-pokie to works just as well.

I have a 520c at the front of my boat and a dash mounted Lcx26c HD. Both units are less than 3 years old now, however the smaller unit stopped working a year ago and the dash unit has been on the fritz for about 6-8 months. Considering the exceptional cost of these two units at the time of purchase when compared to their competition I am quite disappointed in how short their life was. When they were working they were awesome. What really got me to wondering was the video of Iconelli's boat tour on this site. He has two Lowrances in front AND two in dash "just in case one goes out". I spent a poop load of money on those two pieces of equipment and I'm not feeling I've gotten my moneys worth. So now that I've got that of my chest. What should I do now? I need two quality fish finders that will last longer than a pair of underwear. My wife will kill me if I spend that kind of money again. (she fishes with me) Does Lowrance have any goodwilll offerings?
