Had a root canal in one of my back molars and the local he gave me is starting to wear off. My teeth don't really hurt, but my jaw does where I got the shot. Feels like I got harpooned back there.

Gotta love the dentist!!!!

My root canal was pretty easy stuff, a shot of novacaine and it was done.....had no pain because the root was gone, jaw felt a bit tense for a day or so. I've had deep scrapings, 3 shots upper and 3 shots lower, then back the following week for another 6 shots on the other side.

I've recently gone thru 18 months of more scapings, bone graffs, sinus lifts and a few other things I can't think of. Nowadays they do it with triazolam, and you sleep thru the entire ordeal, wake up at home a few hours later with minimal discomfort, except the pain administered to your wallet. Never really had to take the prescribed pain pills after the procedures, worst part was the stitches once the healing started. All in all, dental work isn't like it used to be, it isn't that bad anymore.

I hate dentists I rarely go but once a year when the army makes me and knock on wood in 25 years iv never had a cavity or anything wrong with my teeth there a little crooked but not bad never need anything pulled or work done I hope I never do other then normal cleanings which still I hate with a passion I got a pretty strong pain tolerance till it comes to my mouth/teeth just talking bout it or seeing some one else makes my spine cringe and my teeth hurt just thinking bout it.

@ Clayton, the dentist is one of the most important doctors you will ever see. At your young age teeth are usually not a problem, but wait till you get older, it's the gums. Dental hygene is most important, as gum disease is one of the leading causes of heart attacks and strokes, not to mention bone loss which can lead to losing some teeth, which means implants or dentures. It's nightmare and expensive.

Yeah I just don't like doctors in general they never tell you anything good I'm pretty healthy anyways and usually don't need to go anyways. I brush every day and floss probably why I never had any cavity's and just get routine cleaning. Not to mention i don't eat candy even before this diet I never ate candy or dipped I used to smoke but don't any longer all things that add to healthy teeth and gums.
