Just finished watching Steve Parks and Ken Stricker play with their Space Monkeys on Hook n' Look.

And yes, Big O was wearing his camo shorts.

It was an interesting show, need to watch it again tonight.

Big O, Thanks for supporting the 2012 Road Trip!! When Glenn and Keri started handing out the Rage Tail baits we were like kids in a candy store :)

Hope to see you at the 2013 Road Trip or somewhere else to thank you in person.

Here's a way to try the Space Monkey. Worked great for me a couple of years ago. When the lily pad beds start to come to life, and a few make their way to the surface, mark the perimeter of the bed with some marker buoys. rig the bait on a keel weighted hook. My preference is the Owner brand because they come with twistlocks to hold the nose of the bait to the eye. I like them because they have a centering pin. I also rigged it weedless.

I was fishing in about five feet of water. I'd cast from the perimeter into the middle of the bed, then count to ten, one thousand one, one thousand two, and so forth. You can go high tech and use your watch, provided it has a second hand. Then, I'd slowly drag the monkey back to the boat. I could feel it scratching around the roots of the pad stems. The bass could not resist the critters crawling around in their territory. It works really well when most of the leaves are below the surface, and at varying depths. Once the beds are fully developed, the leaves are too thick to be able to fish it this way.

I'm guessing any pad beds you have on the Potomac's feeder streams/coves are about in this condition. In two or three weeks the beds around here should be ready to fish like this.

Pay careful attention to the beds. You might be lucky to get a few days of this type of fishing.
Regards, Tom

I was out Thursday for about five hours throwing Rage Frogs, Spinnerbaits, Cranks, and Chatterbaits; all I got was one Catfish that was kind enough to get off my hook at the side of the boat. We had a incoming tide and no wind, the water was glass smooth.

I enjoyed watching Big O on Hook n' Look. Hope he makes it to the next RT.

Traveler, super post and great title.

What I viewed was your post title. It shows that we use fishing jargon that can get us into trouble very fast wtih the general public.

Can you imagine saying your post title in a public place where you can be overheard? For us, we fully understand. For others, they can get insulted.

The Space Monkey is a dynamite bait. I like it on a Carolnia rig better than a lizard. But don't tell anyone.

Thanks for the post. And thanks to Big O for being a member of the forum.

My son was the CEO of a company called Happy Monkey, he designed and built custom engineered Snowboards for discriminating clients. I never understood the company name.

But I believe reaction to the thread title goes to show just where our mind gravitates.

Can't find the Space monkey at Dick's or Walmart around town here, I'll have to go on-line.
