Just got back from fishing this week and used my Veritas Winch / Chronarch combo for the first time and wow. Awesome, cannot even describe how great this combo is. The winch rod has the perfect flex to let the fish get a hold of the bait and to fight the fish. Just a blast with the Chronarch and they look like they were made for each other with the color schemes even though the manufacturers don't want to hear that!

Which model Winch do you have the M or MH? What baits were you throwing? Just curious as I am looking that that/those models.
Thanks

Wait a sec. You put that sweet Shimano reel on an Abu rod??? That's just sick.

7'0" MH Throwing a crankbait.

what i'm interested in knowing is what size crankbait were you throwing? by the way, the 7'0" winch is medium and the 7'6" winch is medium-heavy.

7'0" MH Throwing a crankbait.

The 7 MH is not a crank bait rod, or at least not part of the winch lineup. The only 2 "winch" rods are the 7 M and 76 MH. I had the 7MH rod and it was great for jigs and texas rigs but I would find it to be too stuff for treble hooks IMO.

Forget the size and rating....the point is there is a Shimano reel on a Abu rod. I don't understand?

my mistake. My Veritas Winch is Medium. The Crankbait was an Xcalibur squarebill Xcs100. And as far as the Shimano on an Abu...once I saw the price of the Veritas rod at the boat sport and travel show - $69.00 through Thorne Bros. and the Shimano Chronarchs with a $30.00 rebate, I thought what the heck.... They look good together so I'm going to try it....Don't knock it till you try it because it is a sweet combo no matter who's name is on it.

hmmm, the xcaliber 100 is a 1/2-ounce crankbait...i was hoping to hear how well the medium winch rod casts a 1/4-ounce crankbait. there is no recommended lure weight range listed for the winch rods at the abu-garcia website.

Pretty sure NorcalBassin is poking fun at you. A lot of us mix and match. I've got a Plueger on a Cumara, a Diawa on a Lightning, a Diawa on a Villain, etc.

Carried to extreme, what reel would I use on my Fenwicks if I had to kept the same brand name reel on them?

From what I have found on various retailer's sites, the lure range of the medium Winch is 3/8-3/4 oz. If you want to toss 1/4oz cranks check out the Lamiglas Excel 734c, that's what I use mine for.
