My buddy lives on a pond about 1 1/2 acres, its is completely over fished. Neighbors come and fish it daily. So as you can imagine the fish won't bite anything. Is there ANY way to start over? Thanks guys!

Fish areas they don't focus on and fish baits they don't use. Give the fish something they're not used to. If this pond is fairly shallow, a weightless Zoom Centipede will almost always catch fish.

Thanks beast for the reply. I was told the only way to cure a overfished pond was to poison it and start new. That sounded a little drastic to me. Thanks again for the info.

If its that overfished and you know the fish are hesitant to bite anything, find another location.

WHAT?? Then it's just going to get fished hard again once it's restocked and you'll have a bunch of overfished dinks. If it's your buddies privately owned pond he could always make it off limits for a year or two to give the fish a break. I've had the chance to fish a couple smaller lakes after they had been closed for a couple years and they're usually pretty incredible when they first reopen. At the very least he might think about being more selective about the people that are going out there.

Unfortunately its in the back of about 10 or so houses. And what makes it worse is we seem to be the only ones trying to make it better. The landowner was the person who suggested to kill off everything.

There is a pond I hit every so often like that. I started asking around what people were using. Found the small department/sporting good store nearby and asked what people were using.

It was so bad that people were crossing over each others lines. Turns out most were using small crappie jigs, live bait and spinners. I threw a few trick worms and had decent luck. So much so that people would come over and throw to the same spot.

Long story short I don't fish this very often but for my son he has a blast as its small no wind and flat banks

I basically fish 2 place's like this, one has became a year round mess. It has a ramp but at time even on a boat your done in a hour or so cos about 90% of the bank has lines leading back to the bank, and its not a very big place. The other place is bigger and no ramp, but you get alot of people out there. Ive found the best time to go there is early. Check your weather forecast get the sunrise and hit it. This 2nd place has some good fish in it, but you have to really fish it to find the good one's Id say on average for every 50 9" or less bass I catch I catch 1 one quality one. Even lost a HUGE one, at least for me easy 7# class fish made a bone head mistake at the bank and pop fish gone. So just cos your not seeing alot dont give up.

I'll tell you another thing that is fun imo, I went out one day a 2 springs ago and was throwing a shakeyhead. One guy constantly telling me that I needed to switch from b/c and start throwing UL or my baits was to big or something. Was giving me grief over throwing a shakeyhead instead of a wacky rig. Kept going on and on bought how I wont catch anything bigger than he has or the numbers. I work my way away from him and bam, suddenly land a 5#'er. Bunch of kids are flipping out, he's close enough to know. I take a pic and start looking for him, he's shaking his head getting in his truck. Have not seen that guy there since and I got probably twice a week.
