Andy...Thank YOU!!!!...I'm happy to hear from someone that has actually used the Mar-lan brand. I've been holding off my Cabelas order hoping to find someone that has actually used them. My Bass Raider 10E should be here next week. From what I've been told the boat will have a prewired socket in the front with those wires running thru the pontoon and protruding near the rear for eyelet connection to the battery. I'm told there will not be a socket in the back, which doesn't make much sense if you want the ability to use the trolling motor from either the front or the back.. I'll have to solder the Marlan plug adapter to my trolling motor (as you did) and I'll also have to add a Mar-lan socket in the stern area. If Pelican is going to sell the "E" (wired version" of the boat) it would make more sense if they pre-installed a socket both front & aft. OH WELL....I can always find something to complain about....Now that I'm sure the Mar-lan plugs and sockets match what Pelican does pre-install, it won't take much to add the back socket. My job will be easier than yours since you had to add all the wirng.

Thanks again.

Oldfoggy First time out I put the trolling motor on the back.  It was such a pain in the ass, I spent more time steering and adjusting than fishing.  Had a friend with me so the extra room taken up by the trolling motor behind my back made for close quarters.  Next time out I put the motor in front was a night-day difference gained about a foot because the motor was in front of me.  Was easy to control and fish.  If I had it to do over again I don't think I would even bother setting up a plug in the back.

Andy...What you say makes a lot of sense to me. In this small boat I can see where extra space will be important. I also see your point about having the contol of the trolling motor right in front of you. Thanks for the photos also...you did a really nice job installing the wiring. I think my boat will be here in a few days so I'm anxious to get started with accessory work. I see from your photos that you used the plug/socket version that has the pins protruding from the hull mounted sockets and that your plug has the holes to mate with the socket pins. Mine will be just the opposite since my dealer tells me the factory installed socket has the recessed holes and the plug has the protruding/exposed pins. I'll let you know how it works out.
