Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?

Featured Replies

Here's a little something coming out by a company called http://canyonlakeproducts.com/. I found the information in another forum of a different site. I'm going to add one of these.

UPDATE!!! SORRY EVERYONE but Photobucket wants me to spend 399 dollars to host my pictures...I just refuse to do that!  You can still check the pics out with this link: http://s709.photobucket.co

  • Picked up my bass raider 3 or 4 months ago and I absolutely love it.  I did a bunch of mods including a casting deck and the deck is rock solid.  It's 3x more stable on my deck than standing in some o

Ok, I have an older battery that I have not trusted to use. Is there was way to test it before taking it to the lake and getting stranded? Also, what is the best size battery to last all day and what are most of you guys using Brand wise.

That troll King looks amazing!!!

Here's a dolly I made for my Raider 8 out of 2x3's.  It is 12"x12"x8-1/2" tall.  I made it in a certain way so that it fits under the boat and the boat's supports don't interfere with it.  The axle is 1/2 inch that I cut with a hack saw.  I used 1/2" nuts and washers to keep the wheels in place.  I'd have gone with pvc but they didn't have all the pieces I needed and I was in a hurry.

It rolls pretty good but haven't tested it yet outside the backyard.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a Minn-Kotta Traxxis 45# thrust motor for my Bass Raider 10E. I plan on mounting this on the front transom connecting this to a Big Foot switch and a rudder on the rear transom.

The Big Foot Switch will be attached to to a carpeted plywood floor? Question For you folks that have a similar set up, how do you take your trolling motor off if it is connected to the foot switch. Do you have an electrical connection that you can unplug from the rest of the hook up?

I was thinking of attaching the foot switch to the carpet with Velcro, unless a detachable connection would be better.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have that step up - and I wired in this plug below - can't remember which place I got it from but it was either Bass Pro or Cabela's - we have both stores close by to me.   I have it so I can unplug it and either take the TM off the boat and the floor with the big foot switch attached to it can be lifted out of the boat - I usually clean the boat out and spray it down after a few times out on the lake.  Hope these help - if you have any more questions let me know.

I made a video of all my modifications I made to my boat but I can't figure out how to up load videos - if any one knows and can teach me I would appreciate it.

Thanks Bomber7,

I failed to mention that I also planned to hook up a plug too. I'm sure your set up will work for me but, the second photo looks like an electrician's nightmare (to me, a dummy). Perhaps your video will help. Good luck uploading it. The photos will help though. Thanks again.

well I'm no electrican myself but it was pretty easy hooking it up so you should be able to figure it out.

Wormz, that carpet rocks!  Where'd you get it?

Home Depot. It was super cheap also.

Well, got my new battery and took the boat out for a spin on Sunday...

24" rainbow trout on a fly rod.  Good weekend :)

took my boat out today - not too good a day cause storms were rolling in and it got a bit windy - only caught a few blue gills and one catfish.

well the wife has OKed me getting a trailer for my boat - looked on Craigslist but everyone on there is either on crack or just plain crazy cause they have most listed for more then what you would pay for a new one - plus some don't even come with a title.  Getting a new one I will know I will get a title and at least 90 day warranty - only draw back is having to assemble it and put a plywood floor on it but the price is right.

I purchased this trailer about 5 years ago.  I put two bunk boards on it and a 12' aluminum flat bottom.  A couple months ago I purchased a Pelican 10E and redid the trailer.  I sanded and repainted the trailer (the red paint will be pink within a year) I removed the bunks and replaced with 5/4 deck boards.  The deck boards make it pull so much smoother.  A great improvement.

What are warning points?

Bomber7,

I have all of the toys to hook up my trolling motor on the bow like your set up. Question: Are both of the negative wires from the Big Foot switch connected on the same negative wire coming off of the bow plug? It kind of looks like that from your #2 photo. Is that a three wire connection under that glob of tape under the bow plug. If so, how exactly what did you use to make the three wire connection.

Thanks, Reyn

Just a "Thank You" to all on this thread. :)

has been very helpful

have had my 10E out twice now, with great results.

OK, no fish caught, but good pelican-boating.

Anyone use an Autocraft  deep cycle battery?  They are $40 off right now.

I just wired the red to red and black to black for the plugs and TM - the big foot has two black wires and I just wired one to the red and one to the black.  I used wire connectors - the tape is just to keep it all together.

well I didn't get the Harbor Freight trailer - found trailer on Craigslist - an old jet ski trailer with a platform built on it.  I went this route for several reasons .... one I didn't have to put it together as I would have with the HF trailer, plus then I would have to mount a plywood floor anyway.  This one did all that for me... I have to make a few adjustments and I probably will re-wire it too.  But the best thing is not having to load my boat in the back of my truck anymore.  I do need practice backing it up though.

I purchased an Autocraft 24 series.  They have a $40 off promo if you purchase online and pickup in store at Advance auto Parts

Hey fellow Bass Raider owners!  My father-in-law owns this boat (the 10E model) and is looking to add a pole light 3-4'.  For those of you that have added on, what model did you go with and how easy was it to add?  Is there a Pelican brand one I need to be looking for, and any generic brand will do?  Thanks in advance!

Check out this website. This is what I've ordered for mine. I have a regular 10'2" model and did not want to separate it to run the wire for night lights, so I found this solution. It's a little pricey, but worth the price.
