Senkos or Tubes for Smallies??
I'm heading to NH next week and I thought I was ready with my soft plastics until I started reading this forum! It's a smaller, clear lake with smallies, perch, trout, large mouth and pike for the most part. I bought 5" & 4" Senkos for T-rig and wacky rig, some Zoom trick worms, some Baby Flukes and my assorted Cranks etc. I'm seeing a lot of talk here that "Tubes" and "Hula-Grubs" are the better choice for Smallies. Should I change my line-up or work what I have? As you most likely can tell I'm a relative newbie! Thanks for any advice.

August Fishing
Roadwarrior! You confused me with that answer. I'm getting ready to head to NH and do a lot of fishing. I have my sunrise/sunset chart for the month of August and was all ready to do what I've been reading. Early in the morning and late afternoon and early evening! What IS the best time of day to fish in August?

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Question
As I've mentioned in other posts I'm pretty new to the world of Bass fishing. I have a pretty nice set-up, Shimano Symetre FI2500/Browning Midas 6' MA rod, though probably best suited to finesse fishing I'll be using it for most everything, at least for now. Here's the question. I strung it up with 8# line but then started to read about the Yo-Zuri hybrids. Now forgive my ignorance, but is the idea of these lines to allow the ability to have a small diameter, flexible line like a lighter test with the strength of a higher #test? If so, wouldn't it be logical to use a line like that? I've been trying the Senkos and I see that a bit heavier line than 8# is generally recommended and also see that the Yo-Zuri at 6# is like using close to 12#. Sorry to drag this out but I'm a detail guy and like to know whats best-or at least what the concensus is amoung the experienced. If the answer is yes use the Yo-Zuri, why wouldn't I use the 8# and have the benefit of more strength. Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll be sharing soon and not only asking!

New to Bass fishing!
I've been fishing on vactions for a few years. The mindless mode style mostly, but for some reason it just started to click and I've been bitten by the bug! I've been reading and watching everything I can find on bass fishing. I found this forum which looks like a great place to learn. I had posted on the "gear" section hear and got some great advice on reels. I just purchased a new, Shimano Symetre to pair up with my Browning-Midas rod. I haven't even had to chance to fish it yet. I went out and bought some Senkos, Zoom Trick Worms, Flukes and a lot of different Gammy hooks to get started. It's sort of funny. My kids have bought me some lures the last few Bdays but I didn't even know what they were for. Now I find myself researching how to use them and setting up my tackle box accordingly. Here's a question I have. I saw on one of the other "new guys" posts something about pegging the sinker. What does that mean? Also. I bought some Cabelas ProLine 8# line. Any experience with it? Should I try something else as well? I see alot here about the Yo-Zuri Hybrid Soft line. Thanks for great forum. I'm really looking forward to learning and catching Bass.

Novice angler-needs help choosing reel
Thanks for all of the great advice. I'll keep my eyes open for the sales at BassPro. There's so many great options. Am I right in assuming that the number of ball bearings isn't as relevant as how they're placed etc? I see some nice reels at the $50 price point with 10-11 bearings yet some of the higher priced Shimanos have 5 or 6.

Novice angler-needs help choosing reel
Hi folks, I've been fishing for a few years. Mostly on vacations. The mindless mode mostly but for some reason it just started to click and I've been bitten by the bug! I've been reading and watching everything I can find on bass fishing. I found this forum which looks like a great place to be for a bass angler. I have a nice rod, a Browning Midas Boron 6'6" spinning rod. It was actually given to me. I'd like to buy a new reel that suits such a good rod. The choices are staggering!! I'd like to spend $50-$75. I'd like some recommendations from you experienced folks. Thanks for any help. gordon
