Got my week old shimano stolen :(
So thanks all you guys who pointed me in the direction to buy the symetre 2500FI for a spinning reel. It seemed to be great the 1 time i got to use it. Some hood stole it out of my truck last night.Bad thing is,i had the 5500C3 on a shimano 99$ rod next to it and they left that one. I guess he liked the Gold trim on the symetre or didnt know how to cast the abu. Oh well,i guess he needed it worse than me. Being disabled on a limited income makes you miss equipment more once its gone huh. Maybe ill find another one on sale somewhere :'( Richmond,Ky

The guy hardly fishes and cares less about it. Find you a good tourny guy to run with locally and change your presentation

Got a new 5500C3 give to me the other day :)
Im new "totally" to baitcasting but ive been eying a friend of mines shiny new 5500C3 for awhile. My father had one he always used when i was a kid. Well this friend just handed it to me and said consider it a gift. Im like a kid at christmas. Anyways ive never used a baitcaster before so is this gonna be more difficult to learn than a thumbcaster?I like it because in no time i can take the case off and pull the spool out to start cutting the lashes out.Im actually doin well for a beginner with everything set tight at first. I read alot on here about baitcasting 101 etc.. Would it be easier to get a cheap thumbcaster to go through the learning curve or continue with what i have and after becoming good at that, maybe the other reels will be mastered? The over head cast is the worse for me. I wont even attempt it anymore after the nest i had tonight. lol..Anyways i had to share my excitement with you guys and ask some questions. Got a new Shimano rod also"med-fast action" 10-20lbs for 69.99 6'6''

Knots you use
I was wondering what kind of knots most of you guys use on your crankbaits, texas rigs, and spinners(Jigs). I have been using palmarknots because i used them since i was a kid. Any special strong knots i should be shown while enjoying the beginers stage? Links ,diagrams are welcome

Quantum or Shimano for starting?
1st post so right off the bat i want to say hello and this forum is great. I just started bass fishing and im looking to retire my old worn out shimano spinning real. I was at the new sportsmens warehouse looking for a new smooth reel that will last awhile. To me,i think the quantum seems smoother but ive always had shimano and it has become a toss up for me. Im looking to spent 70-85$ on a spinning reel. Can you guys advise on what works best and why.The kid at the desk was begging me almost to change to quantum because of his personal pick i assume.I figured id check w/ the pro's before i purchased. Thanks guys.
